Two classic Lupin releases are coming to cinemas in Japan!
Two Lupin III feature films are airing across cinemas in Japan this October!
To help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the original 1971 green jacket show, both The Castle of Cagliostro (4K version) and the 2018 OVA Is Lupin Still Burning?! will feature in select locations across a two week period.
While the Hayao Miyazaki classic, The Castle of Cagliostro, has received 4K 7.1ch surround sound screenings previously - this October showing marks the perfect opportunity for fans that missed its earlier broadcast to catch it again.
This is, however, the first time the 2018 OVA Is Lupin Still Burning?! has aired in cinemas.
Directed in part by the late series creator Monkey Punch, Is Lupin Still Burning?! provides a retelling of the first episode from the original 1971 green jacket show.
In it, Lupin and the gang face off with old rivals in a race to the death - set up by the mysterious Mr. X. Kyōsuke Mamō, Pycal and of course - Inspector Zenigata are all present, and appear with similar character designs to the original episode. Who will emerge victorious in this deadly race to the finish line?

Tickets for both films are due to go on sale in Japan from September 1st, 2021.
Please note that due to the increasing spread of the COVID-19 virus, showing dates and times may be cancelled or adjusted based on government guidance.
