"Neighbor World Princess" first art and story details revealed!
Initial details of the upcoming Lupin III Isekai manga have been revealed!
Named Lupin III: Neighbor World Princess, the manga contains art by Keyaki Uchiuchi, story by Yousuke Saeki and character design by Hairan.
The first chapter will be included in issue 39/2021 of Shonen Champion, a weekly magazine that focusses on the young "shonen” (boy) demographic. The magazine is due to release on August 26th 2021, and can be purchased from all good retailers in Japan.
As you can see from the cover artwork below, the manga contains a unique art style and features the character in his iconic blue jacket (with similar colours to that as seen in Lupin III: Part 4).
Initial details reveal that unlike some Isekai stories, which see “real world” characters entering the fictional world of the manga or anime in question - instead, Neighbor World Princess sees the Lupin gang transporting to fantasy themed alternate dimension.
Despite being in unfamiliar territory, Lupin and co seize the opportunity to do what they do best - thieving! When there’s some mysterious gold coins up for grabs, how can they resist?
Be sure to pick the first chapter up next week if you are living in Japan, and let us know how it is by posting a comment below!
At first, the idea of an Isekai manga featuring our beloved Lupin gang seemed a little risky - however, the more we see of Neighbor World Princess, the more we are warming up to the idea.
Looking at the above cover artwork in detail shows not only that all main cast members are present, but also a new female protagonist and…. a dragon?! This fantasy setting certainly provides something like we have never seen before in series history, and it should hopefully make for an interesting read!
Imagine townspeople enlisting the help of Jigen and Goemon to take down a dragon, while Lupin flees with the princess. Zenigata and Fujiko in tow - racing through the bustling town on horseback. There is massive potential for something fun here, and we can’t help but wait in anticipation to see what the first chapter has in store for us.
Besides, the closest thing we can compare this to currently is perhaps 2007’s Elusiveness of the Fog and, surely, the only way is up from there - right?
