Shin Lupin manga coming to South Korea!
The Shin Lupin III (World’s Most Wanted) manga series by Monkey Punch is coming to South Korea, courtesy of Haksan Comics!
The set will request funding through the website Wadiz, which functions similarly to Kickstarter and Indiegogo. Eager backers can enable notifications for the campaign over on the Wadiz page for the product, by clicking the light-blue coloured notification box in the top right-hand corner.
Providing funding goes well, twelve volumes featuring stories from the original manga run will release with a Korean language translation. This will mark the first official release of the Lupin III mangas in the country.
Each book will come with a colourful bookmark—twelve in total—and those willing to splash out on the limited edition will receive a gorgeous storage box, an appendix, a notebook, memo pads, and four post cards. The aforementioned appendix will only be available during the pre-order / funding period, which is scheduled to open at 5pm on the 17th of October 2022 for a limited time. If the campaign makes enough money, additional “stretch goals” and goodies are to be revealed—expect more details on this later, providing things go well!
The animated Lupin III series has been gaining popularity in South Korea during recent years, with 1979’s The Castle of Cagliostro remaining a fan-favourite of those living within the country. The most recent series, Part 6, received Korean subtitles and aired at the same time as the original Japanese broadcast.
The set looks incredible. The snazzy new cover artwork for each volume paired with the high-quality printing inside will no doubt make this a must-own for Korean fans. Let’s see how well the campaign does—I’ll keep my fingers crossed, and wish Haksan Comics all the best!
