Lupin and company will be returning to the popular Universal Studios theme park resort later next year.

The attraction had previously taken a short break. Once returned, it will feature a new and exciting getaway drama event, which judging by the newly released artwork above, will involve the actor playing Lupin on the run from Inspector Zenigata and the police.

Lupin will also show up for dinner, and this time he is joined by Goemon!

The actor playing our favourite thief will be attending the theme parks Resteraunt Amore, with rose in hand and ready to charm. Catch him in 2020!

The 28th Lupin III TV special has been broadcast in Japan for the first time!

Fan reception to the special has been positive, with many viewers tweeting along on social media using the film's official hashtag.

The latest 2D animated Lupin film comes only one week ahead of the release of the first feature length 3DCG animated film, Lupin III: The First.

Hirotaka Marufuji, Lupin and companies character designer from the upcoming special, has uploaded a special art piece to celebrate the launch of the film. Check it out below, and also give it a like over on Twitter by clicking here!

In addition to the special airing on TV for the first time, a DVD and Blu-ray home video release has also been confirmed for Japan. The film will launch on both formats on the 19th of February, 2020.

Check out the announcement of the home video release over on Twitter right here.

While there are currently no announced plans for an English language release of Prison of the Past, we would expect there may be one in 2020.

This is as January 2019's TV special, Goodbye Partner, has just received an English language dub and digital release in the West. It would be surprising not to see Prison of the Past get that same treatment, especially since TMS Entertainment U.S. and Epcar Productions are on a roll as of late!

Stay tuned to Lupin Central for all the news on a potential English language release as soon as it becomes available.

Lupin III: The First begins showing next week!

Don't forget, the first feature length 3DCG Lupin film Lupin III: The First hits cinemas next week!

The marketing machine for the film is currently in full swing, with posters, TV commercials and more all popping up across Japan.

TMS are even teaming up Fukuya Mentai, with Lupin and the gangs faces plastered over the front of packaging for various spicy cod roe and canned tuna products.

Check back next week for more news on the film after its premiere showing on Friday, the 6th of December!
