Unfortunate news.

Makio Inoue, Ishikawa Goemon XIII’s Japanese voice actor for over thirty years has passed away on November the 29th, 2019.

Inoue, who retired from the role in 2011, was succeeded by Daisuke Namikawa. The much respected voice actor also featured in several popular television series such as Captain Harlock, Astro Boy, Samurai Champloo and many more.

He was 81 years old, may he rest in peace. We give our condolences to his family and friends.

The news was confirmed over on Twitter earlier today by the official Lupin III Japanese social media account.

Several voice actors, including Daisuke Namikawa, have made public statements expressing their sympathy and condolences.

Kiyoshi Kobayashi, veteran voice actor and current Japanese talent for Daisuke Jigen, has released the following statement:

Goemon, you too! Now all that are left are me and Fujiko-chan (Eiko Masuyama). The Zantetsu sword is surely crying.
