Belated happy birthday, Kanichi Kurita!
Kanichi Kurita, who has been voicing the character of Lupin III since 1995, celebrated his 62nd birthday on the 3rd of March.
As the successor to the late Yasuo Yamada, Kurita had his work cut out for him when he first took on the role as part of the feature film Farewell to Nostradamus. 25 years on, Kurita has made the role his own - not simply mimicking the work of Yamada, but instead putting his own unique spin on Lupin.
We wish him all the best on his special day. Check out the below video interview with the man himself, in which he goes into detail on how he plays the character of Lupin III, and the differences between his spin and Yamada’s original work.
Lupin III comes to PS4 title Dreams!
If you’re into gaming, you have likely heard of Media Molecules’ recent PlayStation 4 title Dreams.
The title not only offers a trippy single player experience filled with content produced by the developers, but it also acts as a powerful software creation kit. By using this, intrepid creators can produce a multitude of different content. Animations, cinematics, games, music - you name it, it’s likely possible to create it in Dreams.
This content can then be shared online through PlayStation’s online service, for users to experience themselves - or if enabled, even use said creations as part of their own. Players can rate the content, and Media Molecule themselves regularly interact with it as part of their live stream schedule, or by featuring / highlighting it.
User g3n3v3r over on social media platform Reddit is looking into using the software to create sculptures - and their first attempt is of Lupin himself. The creator plans to make more - we wish them all the best on their new sculpture creating endeavours and cannot wait to see more of the Lupin gang, if they get around to making them!
Netflix France’s Arsène Lupin TV show is now filming!
A new teaser trailer for Netflix’s upcoming Arsène Lupin TV series has been uploaded to social media platform Twitter.
French actor and comedian Omar Sy will be taking on the role of the gentleman thief. The show promises to be a modern take on the classic Maurice Leblanc character, even to the extent of Arsène Lupin’s iconic top hat being replaced by a flat cap.
The new series has been created by George Kay (Criminal, Killing Eve) in collaboration with François Uzan (Family Business). The show is now in the filming stages, with a planned release later this year.
