Lupin III Vs. Cat's Eye Cafe Review

As you are reading this article, you probably know that Japanese people love anime. If they think they can animate it, they will animate it anyway.
You also probably know that Japanese people are foodies. If they think they can eat it, they will eat it anyway.
In such a country, it is only natural that animation and food and drink would merge.
Supermarkets, convenience stores, movie theaters, shops with about 30 kinds of ice cream, and all sorts of places sell food and beverages with illustrations of anime characters.
The pinnacle of this culture is the collaboration cafe. The food and drinks are related to the work, and the store is decorated with various illustrations and characters, and familiar music is played.
The entrance of the Lupin Vs. Cat’s Eye Collaboration Cafe
In March 2023, a Lupin III vs. Cat's Eye collaboration cafe was opened for a limited time in Tokyo and Hyogo. This article will mainly focus on Lupin's menu, with a few spoilers for Lupin III vs. Cat's Eye, so if you haven't watched it yet, be forewarned. (With apologies to the Kisugi sisters, I only ordered a small portion of their menu. My stomach's tolerance is limited.)
Note that I only experienced the cafe in Hyogo. I could not visit the cafe in Tokyo. Tokyo is far away. (But as a resident of Japan, I know I live closer to Tokyo than anyone reading this article. Sorry.)
The interior of the Lupin III Vs. Cat’s Eye Cafe
The cafe was large enough to hold about 40 people. The walls were decorated with several panels of Lupin III vs. Cat's Eye screenshots, and there was a TV with the trailer playing on repeat. (I guess the employees had to listen to the audio of the trailer during their whole shift)
The food is frankly mediocre; the Part 6 collaboration cafe held in October 2021 and January 2022 (which I was unfortunately unable to experience) used ingredients designed specifically for the Part 6 cafe. The ingredients used in this cafe are probably mass-produced commercial ingredients. (For the record, it was not bad. It was delicious).
So, the food itself does not seem special, but on the other hand, if you prepare similar ingredients, you can recreate the menu item at home even if you cannot go to the collaboration cafe.
I know it's one thing to experience it in the cafe and another to eat it at home, but I hope that fans who live outside of Japan can at least enjoy the simulated experience.
Zenigata & Toshio’s “Good job” Pathetic Ramen
銭形＆俊夫のおつかれ哀愁ラーメン
If it’s Zenigata-themed food, it’s probably ramen
It is a very simple ramen. The soup is flavored with soy sauce. The noodles are served with soy egg, char siu (Chinese-style barbecue pork), menma (fermented bamboo shoots), naruto (fish cake), and green onion.
“おつかれ” means "tiredness," and is used as a greeting to express appreciation for the hard work of fellow workers. I don't think Zenigata is very tired. Toshio must be very tired.
“哀愁” meaning somehow sad and lonely.
This is Zenigata's menu, but it is decorated with Lupin's flag. I am curious about Zenigata's state of mind.
By the way, the flag is a wooden stick used for popsicles, etc., with a piece of copy paper with the Lupin symbol on it stuck to it. Probably easier to make than ramen.
The Lupin Gang Loves It! Special Omelet Curry at the Cafe
ルパン一味もお気に入り！喫茶店の特製オムカレー
This is another simple dish.
The rice portion of the curry rice is covered with a thin omelet. The only ingredient in the curry is braised beef. If you feel that this is not enough, you can add a hamburger steak to the recipe or cover a katsu curry with an egg.
Lupin and Fujiko’s Pink Dessert
ルパンと不二子のピンクデザート
This dessert features strawberry flavored custard pudding, strawberry flavored rolls, pink macaroon, strawberries and grapes in a beautiful arrangement. Whipped cream and cotton candy are sprinkled with strawberry powder, and the plate is topped with strawberry sauce and a strawberry powder lipstick print.
The diagonally cut rolls are reminiscent of lipstick.
Since it uses a variety of ingredients, it may be the most time-consuming menu to recreate at home.
Lupin also appears in the name of this menu due to the fact that Lupin wears a pink jacket. Therefore, the possibility that the kiss on the plate is Lupin's is not zero.
Lupin's Jacket and Tie Lemonade

The lemonade is pink, inspired by his jacket, and is served with lemon, the same yellow as his tie. The whipped cream is topped with strawberry powder.
There are no shirt-inspired ingredients. Jacket and tie only. It reminds me of his strange attire in the opening of Prison of the Past.
The whipped cream is sweet, but despite the bright color, the lemonade is less sweet and sour. It has a sour taste, but that sourness does not remain on the tongue after the drink is finished.
It is a "He's here today but gone tomorrow" drink.
Jigen’s Gunman Beard Milk Coffee
次元のガンマン髭コーヒー牛乳
It is a mixture of coffee and milk, with crushed coffee jelly submerged in the bottom of the glass. And like the Lupin drink, it is topped with whipped cream and sprinkled with cocoa powder.
The drink is not sweet at all. The coffee jelly is not sweet either. Probably no sugar is used at all. But the whipped cream is sweet (probably the same one used in the Lupin drink and dessert menus).
It is a Jigen-like drink with a little of sweetness mixed in with the bitterness.
Goemon’s White Energy ~With Zantetsuken~
五ェ門のホワイトエナジー～斬鉄剣添え～
It is a yogurt beverage topped with whipped cream and sprinkled with matcha powder. It tastes very similar to Calpico, but I could not identify it. I seem to be lacking in training.
The ingredient used as a Zantetsuken is the famous Japanese snack "Pocky." It is a long, thin biscuit coated with chocolate. It's a tasty snack but cannot even cut the worthless objects.
Note that "Pocky" is derived from "poki," a Japanese onomatopoeic sound of a long, thin object breaking, which is bad luck for Zantetsuken. However, it may be fitting considering what happens to the Zantetsuken at the end of Lupin III vs. Cat's Eye.

One postcard is given per food menu item. We cannot choose the design.
One coaster is given per drink menu item. We cannot choose the design. They are made of paper and are a little thick, but they are not very waterproof, so they are not very practical. They are for decorative purposes only.
These are the details of the Lupin III vs. Cat's Eye collaboration cafe. It is nice to see that this is how they entertain Lupin fans besides releasing the new anime.
I am waiting for the day they will host a LUPIN THE IIIRD collaboration cafe serving steaks, grilled rice balls, and so on.
日本人がアニメ好きであることは、この記事をお読みのあなたはよくご存知のことでしょう。アニメにできそうならとりあえずアニメにする。
日本人が食いしん坊であることもよくご存知のことでしょう。食べられそうならとりあえず食べる。
そんな国でアニメと飲食物が融合するのは自明の理といえます。
スーパーマーケット、コンビニ、映画館、約30種類のアイスクリームを売っているお店、あらゆる場所でアニメキャラクターのイラストが付いた飲食物が販売されています。
そんな文化の頂点と言える存在がコラボカフェです。飲食物は作品に因んだ物であり、店内は色んなイラストやフィギュアで飾り付けられ、馴染みがある音楽が流れています。
そして、2023年3月に東京と兵庫にてルパン三世VSキャッツアイのコラボカフェが期間限定で開催されました。この記事では主にルパンのメニューについて紹介しようと思います。LvsCEのネタバレを少々含みますので、もしあなたがまだ観ていないのならご注意下さい。（来生姉妹には申し訳ないが、彼女たちのメニューは少ししか注文しませんでした。私の胃袋の許容量には限界があるのです。）
なお、私が体験したのは兵庫県のカフェのみです。東京のカフェには行けませんでした。東京は遠いのです。（でも、この記事を読んでいる誰よりも私は東京の近くに住んでいるとわかってます。ごめん。）
店内は40人ほどが利用できそうな広さでした。壁にはLvsCEのスクリーンショットのパネルが何枚か飾られており、TVも設置され、予告編がリピート再生されていました。（店員は勤務中ずっと予告編の音声を聞くことになるのでしょう）
料理は率直に言うと平凡です。2021年10月と2022年1月に開催されたパート6のコラボカフェ（残念ながら私は行けませんでした）ではコラボカフェ専用の食材が使われていました。今回のカフェで使われているのはおそらく大量生産されている業務用の食材です。（念のため言っておきますが、決して不味くは無かったです。美味しかった。）
なので、料理自体に特別な感じはしないのですが、逆に言えば似た食材を用意すれば、コラボカフェに行けなくても自宅で料理が再現可能です。
実際にカフェで体験するのと自宅で再現料理を食べるのとでは別物だと分かっていますが、日本以外にお住まいのファンの方々にせめて疑似体験を楽しんでいただけたらと思います。
銭形＆俊夫のおつかれ哀愁ラーメン
とてもシンプルなラーメンです。スープは醤油味です。麺の上には煮玉子、焼き豚、メンマ、ナルト、ネギが添えられています。
「おつかれ」は「疲労」という意味の言葉であり、仲間の苦労を労う意味の挨拶としても使います。銭形はあまり疲れていないと思います。俊夫はとても疲れたでしょう。
「哀愁」は何となく悲しくて寂しい、という意味の言葉です。
銭形のメニューですが、ルパンの旗が飾られています。銭形の心境が気になるところです。
ちなみに旗はアイスキャンデーなどに使う木の棒にルパン印が書かれたコピー用紙が貼り付けてある物です。たぶん、ラーメンよりこれを作る方が簡単です。
ルパン一味もお気に入り！喫茶店の特製オムカレー
こちらのメニューもシンプルな料理です。
カレーライスのご飯の部分を薄いオムレツで覆っています。カレーの具材は煮込んだ牛肉のみです。物足りないと感じる人は、再現するときにハンバーグを追加したり、カツカレーを卵で覆ってもいいかもしれません。
ルパンと不二子のピンクデザート
イチゴ味のプリン、イチゴ味のロールケーキ、ピンク色のマカロン、イチゴ、ブドウが可愛く盛り付けられたデザートです。ホイップクリーム、綿飴にはイチゴパウダーがかけられ、お皿にはイチゴソースとイチゴパウダーのキスマークがあります。
斜めにカットされたロールケーキが口紅を連想させます。
色んな食材を使用しているので、自宅で再現するには一番手間がかかるメニューかもしれません。
ピンク色のジャケットを着ているのでルパンもこのメニューの名前に登場しています。そのため、お皿のキスマークがルパンのものである可能性は0ではないのです。
ルパンのジャケットネクタイレモネード
ジャケットをイメージしたピンク色のレモネードに、ネクタイをイメージしたレモンが添えられています。ホイップクリームにはイチゴパウダーがかけられています。
シャツをイメージした食材はありません。プリズン・オブ・ザ・パストのオープニングでの奇妙な服装を思い出しますね。
ホイップクリームは甘いですが、鮮やかな色とは裏腹に甘味が少なく酸味を感じるレモネードです。
酸味がありますが飲み終わった後はその酸っぱさは舌には残りません。「He's here today but gone tomorrow」なドリンクです。
次元のガンマン髭コーヒー牛乳
コーヒーと牛乳を混ぜており、グラスの底には砕いたコーヒーゼリーが沈んでいます。そして、ルパンドリンクと同様にホイップクリームが乗せてあり、ココアパウダーがかけられています。
まったく甘くないドリンクです。コーヒーゼリーも甘くないです。おそらく砂糖が全然使われていません。しかし、ホイップクリームは甘いです（たぶんルパンドリンクやデザートメニューに使われているのと同じもの）。
苦さの中にちょっとだけ甘さが混じる次元らしいドリンクです。
五ェ門のホワイトエナジー～斬鉄剣添え～
乳酸菌飲料にホイップクリームが乗せてあり、抹茶パウダーがかけられています。
カルピスによく似た味ですが、正体は特定できませんでした。私は修行が足りないようです。
斬鉄剣に見立てている食材は日本の有名なお菓子である「ポッキー」です。チョコレートでコーティングした細長いビスケットです。美味しいお菓子ですが、つまらない物を斬ることすらできません。
なお、「ポッキー」とは日本語で細長い物が折れる擬音である「ポキ」に由来しており、斬鉄剣にとっては不吉です。しかし、LvsCEの終盤で斬鉄剣に何が起こるのかを考えたらピッタリかもしれません。

フードメニュー一品につき一枚貰えます。絵柄は選べません。
ドリンクメニュー一品につき一枚貰えます。絵柄は選べません。紙製でありやや厚めですが特に防水加工はしていないようなので、実用性は低いです。あくまで装飾用です。
以上、ルパン三世VSキャッツアイのコラボカフェの内容でした。彼らが新作アニメを公開する以外にもルパンファンを楽しませてくれるのは嬉しいですね。
