Lupin III meets Creed III... kind of!
The 1994 television special Lupin III: Dragon of Doom shows up in new film release Creed III, which launches in cinemas across the United States this week.
In a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo, the classic animated film shows up as a poster on main character Adonis Creed’s bedroom wall, which is visible during a flashback sequence. Alongside it, memorabilia for other animated series and films of the era, such as Robotech, Naruto, and Gundam Build Fighter all feature. Each is said to be included as a homage to the inspiration behind the films action scenes, which director Michael B. Jordan admits are heavily anime influenced.
While a silly story, it is neat to see Lupin showing up in mainstream media, no matter how small the cameo may be. If you are a fan of the Rocky series spin-off and are planning on catching the film, keep an eye out and see if you can spot the poster!
