Lupin III: The First title sequence revealed!
Here is a lovely surprise to end the week with - the full title sequence of Lupin III: The First!
The opening is looking slick, and Yuji Ohno is absolutely on form with his latest version of the Part II theme tune - it fits perfectly!
Lupin III: The First will be the series’ first extended venture into 3D animation, and releases in Japanese theatres on December 6th, 2019. The film has been directed by Takashi Yamazaki (Dragon Quest: Your Story and Stand by Me Doraemon).
The current Japanese voice cast have reprised their roles, including Kanichi Kurita as Lupin III and Kiyoshi Kobayashi as Daisuke Jigen. Suzu Hirose, Kōtarō Yoshida and Tatsuya Fujiwara are all set to appear as voice talent for the three new characters shown in the trailer. Series veteran Yuji Ohno has returned to compose the soundtrack - of which will get its own separate release on December 4th, 2019.
Companies in both Italy and Spain have purchased the rights to release the film abroad, with a release date of the 15th of May (2020) set for Spain. A date for Italy is still to be confirmed.
There are currently no plans for release of the film outside of Japan, Italy and Spain - at least at the time of writing this post. We have our fingers crossed, considering the budget and spectacle of the film, that it will also release in other territories.
Check back next Friday for another first-glimpse of the film, as TMS and NTV reveal an exciting action scene!
The mentioned action scene is due to air on Japanese television on the 29th of November, alongside the latest TV special, Prison of the Past. The clip from today aired alongside a re-broadcast of Lupin III VS Detective Conan: THE MOVIE.
Stay tuned to Lupin Central for all the latest news on this film and more!
