Ichiro Mizuki passes away, aged 74

Legendary singer, actor, and performer, Ichiro Mizuki, has passed away at the age of seventy-four.

Ichiro Mizuki had become known around the globe as the “king of anime songs”, in part due to his whopping 1,200+ song career, but also due to his big personality. Beloved for his work on Mazinger Z, Devil Man, and more—if you watch anime to any degree, especially that of the mecha genre, it is likely that you have heard his music. Relevant to our circles, though, is that Mizuki performed the original “Love Theme” ending song from Lupin III: Part 2, in collaboration with Yuji Ohno.

There is not much more to say, other than that this is incredibly sad news, and my thoughts are with his family and friends. Mizuki always brought the energy to the stage, and poured his heart and soul into every performance. He shone under the spotlight, and I am sure his work will continue to be enjoyed by many for years to come.
