A closer look at the Lupin III: The First MSP figurine!
The new Banpresto Lupin III: The First figurine is here!
Released earlier this week, the figurine is the first of two Lupin III: The First Banpresto items - with Fujiko Mine dropping in April. While at time of writing there has been no announcement for additional character variants, we expect there may be more in the works. Typically the Master Stars Piece releases feature representation for all major cast members, so we have our fingers crossed!
This latest entry into Banpresto’s Master Stars Piece series of statuettes includes Lupin rocking a stubble and sporting his updated look from the recent 3DCG theatrical film.
His classic red jacket design has had a few minor tweaks to work as well as it possibly can in 3D animated form, tweaks that include additional texture to both his suit jacket and pants. For the most part however, he looks true to his original 2D animated origins - something that should no doubt please existing Japanese fans of the franchise.
While the figurine itself has been appearing in crane game arcades across Japan, it is also possible to purchase one directly from specialist retailers. Crane games can be notoriously difficult to win at, so if you are in Japan and are not feeling lucky, we would recommend taking a trip down into your local model store to see what is in stock.
For fans abroad, the figurine has been popping up for order on various online auction sites such as eBay for far heftier prices. If you cannot import for a more reasonable price, shelling out a bit of additional cash may be your only option. The woes of not living closer to Lupin’s homeland!
