The Castle of Cagliostro is coming to Scotland Loves Anime!

The classic Hayao Miyazaki directed film, Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro, is finally headlining in Scotland’s yearly anime event, Scotland Loves Anime.

For one night only in both Edinburgh and Glasgow cinemas, a 4K version of the film will play as part of 2024’s festivities. The film joins other hits, such as Code Geass, Suzume, Sand Land, and more, giving fans living in Scotland a chance to experience anime on the big screen. Many of the films listed on the website are due to receive their premiere screening within the United Kingdom at the event - so no doubt showings will be popular.

For Glasgow, The Castle of Cagliostro is due to air from 23:00 on Friday the 1st of November (late to bed that night, Glaswegian fans - I’m sure you’ll manage)! I’ll be attending the showing in Edinburgh, which is due to start at 18:00 on Thursday the 5th of November. As usual, in Glasgow the festival will take place at Glasgow Film Theatre, and at the Cameo Picturehouse in Edinburgh.

Tickets are on sale for £12.90 per adult, £8.40 for children, and £11.40 for students or individuals over 60 years of age. Family tickets can be purchased for £31.60. Please note that there is also a seperate booking fee of around 70p per ticket.

The Lupin series is no stranger to Scotland Loves Anime, with both Lupin III VS Detective Conan: The Movie and The Mystery of Mamo showing during previous years. 2024 marks the first time Cagliostro has been shown at the event, though - and if you’re a fan living in Scotland like me, it’ll be an opportunity to see it you will surely not want to miss!
