Prime Video Italy gets new Lupin content! [Update]
Update (June 16th):
Despite the original announcement from Amazon Italia stating all content was to drop on June 15th, Prison of the Past is yet to appear on the service. This has left Italian fans confused, as despite acknowledgment from Amazon towards the delay on Twitter, a new air date has not been set.
Yamato Video, the company behind the release, have gained a bit of a bad reputation in Italy for not being consistent and accurate with their Lupin III updates. This latest blunder has only made things worse - with the date mix up making them appear incompetent.
With Prison of the Past not releasing outside of Japan before, a lot of eyes were on its release. Hopefully we see it show up at some point soon - stay tuned!
Original story (June 14th):
Amazon Prime Video in Italy have announced that they are to add four new digital Lupin III releases to the service tomorrow, on June 15th, 2021.
The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, Lupin III: Part III, Lupin III: Part 5 (season one) and Lupin III: Prison of the Past will all soon be available to stream or download.
This marks the first time the 2019 related TV special, Prison of the Past, has released by legal means outside of Japan.
The film is directed by Hatsuki Tsuji and is written by Shatner Nishida. Hirotaka Marufuji, who is also working on Lupin III: Part 6, handled the character designs.
Prison of the Past is yet to receive an English language version, although in North America, it is likely that Discotek Media intend to pick it up at some point in the future.
Fans in Italy are no doubt looking forward to watching the special - if you check it out, please let us know your thoughts!
