Part IV comes to Amazon Prime!
Update from May 4th:
The remaining episodes of Lupin III: Part IV have now been uploaded to Amazon Prime in North America. All 26 episodes are now available for streaming on the service - and this includes both “straight to home video” episodes from Japan, Venice of the Dead and Non-stop Rendezvous.
Original story from March 1st:
The 2015 animated television series Lupin III: Part IV is now available digitally on Prime Video in North America!
This series was the first classic Lupin show to feature on television since Part III finished during the mid-1980s. It serves as a fantastic place to start for new viewers interested in getting into the franchise!
For the time being, only the first 13 episodes of the show have been uploaded, with 13 more still to come. All are free to watch if subscribed to the Amazon Prime service.
As with previous Prime Video releases, only the English language dub is included in the purchase. For Part IV, this means that while Tony Oliver, Richard Epcar and the gang all feature, the legendary Yuji Ohno’s soundtrack is however absent and instead replaced with music from the Italian television broadcast.
The Italian soundtrack features music from Papik and Yuma, is a decent substitute for the real deal. It is not quite as exciting or memorable as Yuji Ohno’s bombastic score, but is not a bad listen. At the time, fans were upset to miss out on the classic opening song and background track - but in hindsight, it is nice to have an extra soundtrack for the show.
If you would rather check out the Japanese dub and soundtrack, you can still pick this up on Blu-ray in North America courtesy of Discotek Media. For those that do want to jump in on Prime Video, you can’t really go wrong for “free”!
