Part 6 is coming to "ITVX" in the U.K!

Mainstream media platform ITV (or, Yorkshire Television / Channel 3 for fellow British oldies), will be opening up a new streaming service named “ITVX” later this year—and Lupin III: Part 6 will be present for its big launch!

The series will be included as part of a new partnership between ITV and Anime Ltd, which will help to bring hit animated shows to mainstream British television. This includes the likes of Escaflowne, Megalobox, Gunbuster, and Cowboy Bebop all joining Lupin III: Part 6 for the launch of the service.

Taken from the press release over at itv.com, Andrew Partridge, president and CEO of Anime Ltd. has said:

“We could not be more pleased than to team up with ITV in our efforts to share world-class Japanese animation with new audiences and lifelong fans across the United Kingdom. With a diverse lineup of anime from some of the most impressive minds in television and film, ITVX promises to be an essential destination for anyone interested in the medium.”

Once it does drop later this year, ITV have said that it is set to offer both free and paid subscription models.

Personally speaking, I feel we have far too many digital platforms and subscription services already. While it is positive to see the Lupin series make a splash on a “mainstream” platform, I cannot imagine why anyone would want to pay any amount of money to ITV for a premium service.

It is nice to have a way to watch the series for free, though, just keep in mind—like on standard live television, the free version of ITVX is likely to run with advertisements.
