"Mystery of Mamo” criterion collection video essay now available!
Grab a snack, sit yourself down, and buckle up this Thanksgiving weekend—because Infinite Snow Productions’ second video essay is now on YouTube, and it is a biggie!
Friend of the website Delaney Jordan has released her second Lupin III video essay—and this time, it focuses on the 1978 theatrical film, The Mystery of Mamo. The fifty five minute deep-dive covers why Delaney thinks the first ever animated Lupin feature should be included amongst other classic and contemporary films in the renowned Criterion Collection. Her argument is not only sound, but a joy to watch and listen to. Who knows… if this video gains enough traction, maybe all of her Criterion-related dreams will come true!
The first essay from Infinite Snow, which covers Miyazaki’s Lupin, is still available to watch on YouTube, and amuses viewers with its excellent pacing and in-depth observations. Delaney’s dorky humour and lovely personality shines through, and has helped the video reach a wider audience, with both existing and new fans of the Lupin series commenting in droves.
You can watch the videos in any order, and I absolutely recommend checking out both of them. Delaney clearly has a talent for video editing, film analysis, and is generally just a nice person to be around. Give it a watch below!
Big shout-out to Morayforte for the superb YouTube thumbnail artwork, which you can see at the top of this post!
