More classic Lupin content coming to HIDIVE!
If you recently subscribed to Sentai Filmworks’ streaming platform HIDIVE to check out Lupin III: Part 6, then we have some good news for you!
HIDIVE have announced today that they plan to bring all previous televised Lupin III series to the platform in the near future. This will include Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5 (which is already available, in some territories) and The Woman Called Fujiko Mine.
Additionally, other goodies such as “special bonus episodes” are due to feature on the platform. We are not sure what this is referring to just yet — however, we suspect that fans may start to see various OVA’s and television specials making their way onto HIDIVE in select territories.
News on a release date for the content is likely to come in the near future, and there is a possibility each series will be made available one at a time. Fans have been wondering if English dubs will also make their way onto the service, and while unclear at this time, I suspect we will see the upcoming dub of Part 1 at the very least.
Fingers crossed that each series will also be made available in territories outside of the United States. The latest television series, Part 6, currently has slightly wider availability due to a broader licencing deal, but Part 5, for example, which is already on the service, is content locked to those living within the United States only.
It is also unlikely that this new partnership will affect the physical releases by Discotek Media, which as far as we know, are planned to continue on into the future.
