Monkey News - Discotek Day
Welcome to Monkey News, your weekly news update for everything Lupin III.
As we are a little short on news stories this week, we will instead be taking the opportunity to quickly outline Discotek Media’s 2020 Lupin III release schedule.
If you are living in North America, as most (but not all) of our readers do, there is a lot to look forward to in the home video department. We hope everyone can get excited for what is in the pipeline, and that these three titles may help new viewers become invested into the world of Lupin!
Fujiko’s Lie is available now on Blu-ray in North America!
The third Lupin the IIIRD spin-off film, Fujiko’s Lie, released on Blu-ray in North America on March the 31st, 2020.
The film originally released in Japan during May, 2019. It then first came to the North America later that same year, via Amazon’s streaming platform.
The digital release came in two separate variants - the original Japanese language version, and another with an all new English dub.
The latter stars Christina Vee as Fujiko (the same voice actress that played Ami in Epcar Production’s English dub of Lupin III: Part 5) and Keith Silverstein as Lupin III (returning for his third Lupin the IIIRD lead role, previously playing the character in both Jigen’s Gravestone and Goemon’s Blood Spray).
Both dubs have been included on the Blu-ray release, so no matter your preference, you can still enjoy the film!
The film is currently up for order over on RightStuf for the low price of $19~. While they are currently out of stock, more is expected shortly.
The Last Job to release on Blu-ray in North America!
The 2010 TV Special Lupin III: The Last Job is coming to Blu-ray in the U.S. on April 28th, 2020.
Lupin embarks on a new heist. His plan this time is to steal a newly discovered Japanese cultural treasure, which is currently being transported in Germany. During his attempt to steal the treasure, our hero bears witness to the tragic death of his most admirable rival - Inspector Zenigata!
It seems a deadly clan of ninja warriors, who are also after the Japanese treasure, took out Inspector Zenigata as he threw himself into the crossfire. Devastated, Lupin and friends aim to prevent the ninja warriors from obtaining what they seek, along with spending time to mourn the loss of the good inspector. It soon turns out that all is not as it seems…
