Lupin III: The First gets new poster in France!
The French release of the first feature length 3DCG Lupin film now has an official poster in France.
Pictured above, the advertisement features many members of the gang along with the classic Fiat 500. It’s certainly eye-catching, and quite different from the North American poster we saw earlier this year.
The film, which will begin airing in cinemas from the 7th of October 2020, will come complete with a French language dub. The Lupin III name will be used as part of the release, which has only recently been made possible in France. This is as the license from the Maurice Leblanc estate has expired, and as such the Lupin name is now in public domain.
We will be posting more details from the French release of the film as they become available!
Italian packaging for Lupin III: The First revealed!
Fans in Italy will finally be getting a full public release of Lupin III: The First starting this September.
The February 2020 cinema run was postponed a couple of days ahead of its initial air date due to the increasing dangers of the COVID-19 pandemic, and it has not returned to theaters since.
Streaming website Prime Video will begin showing the film in Italy starting from mid-September, while the DVD and Blu-ray versions (pictured above) are scheduled for late October. The release includes a full Italian language dub, featuring many familiar faces from the experienced Italian dubbing crew.
If you are a fan in Italy and are planning on picking this one up, be sure to share with us your thoughts and any unboxing photos!
TMS tease fans with the return of Albert…
While we don’t wish to read too much into this one, the official TMS English language Twitter account published an interesting tweet earlier last week, asking followers if they would like to see the return of Part 5’s Albert d'Andrésy.
Albert is perhaps one of the more interesting additions to the Lupin character roster from recent years, and while he added a lot to the 2018 TV series, he felt destined for more. His story arc never truly wrapped up, and the characters relationship to Lupin remained shrouded in mystery.
We would love to see Albert return in a film, or perhaps even in a Part 6 TV series, and we get the feeling TMS would too. If you agree and have a Twitter account, be sure to interact with the tweet and let TMS know!
Discotek Day is coming…
North American video licencing company Discotek Media have announced the details of an upcoming online panel.
The panel will be live on Twitch and will air from 9pm ET / 6pm PT on the 14th of September, 2020.
While there is no promise of new Lupin III content, Discotek often reveal new releases of a TV special or TV series as part of their events. With Dragon of Doom out at the end of August and The Pursuit of Harimao's Treasure on the way, could they have something else in store for Lupin fans?
If you’re not able to catch the stream, keep an eye on Discotek’s social media channels for more information, or simply check back here on Tuesday the 15th to read up on any potential announcements in our weekly news roundup - we’ll have all the details ready for you!
Loo-pins, get your Loo-pins!
Our buddy Jay has recently completed his latest artist en-devour - the creation of five stylish Lupin III pins!
As posted over on Twitter, the pins can currently be picked up over on his Etsy store, either as a set or individually. The full set complete with backing card is currently retailing for $50.
The pins look great, and it’s nice to see the rest of the gangs faces featuring in a similar style as Lupin’s little bean shaped signature. Nice work, Jay!
