Lupin the IIIRD spin-off films to re-broadcast in Japan!

All three entries in the Lupin the IIIRD spin-off film trilogy will be airing back-to-back on channel WOWOW Plus in Japan, from 9pm on August the 19th, 2022.

Jigen’s Gravestone, Goemon’s Bloodspray, and Fujiko’s Lie, which continue the story from the popular 2012 spin-off television show The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, are well-known for their superb animation, storytelling, and darker tone. Each film is slightly less than an hour long in length, and as such, each will air on the hour, at 9pm, 10pm, and 11pm.

This more mature take on Lupin is an absolute must-see for existing fans of the series and newbies alike—that is, if you don’t mind some nudity, and getting through that incredibly awkward, perverse scene from Jigen’s Gravestone.

If you are not able to catch the films next week, they are due to re-broadcast on the same channel in September, from 12:30am on September 17th, and 11pm on September 26th. While two new films in the spin-off series have been teased previously, we still have no new information to share on each of these. Perhaps we may hear something about these soon? While there have been rumours over the past twelve months, for the time being, we would recommend not to get hopes too high.

A new entry in this franchise would be much appreciated at this point, though, since it has now been over three years since Fujiko’s Lie first released! We’ll be sure to keep our eyes peeled!

In the meantime, if you’re on the fence about checking out the films, why not have a read of our reviews? Be warned, however, as they may contain spoilers.
