Greatest Heists manga collection releases this month!
The upcoming Lupin III: Greatest Heists — The Classic Manga Collection book is due to release in more territories around the world later this month.
Previously released in Japan and France as a tribute to Monkey Punch after the creator’s passing in 2019, the Greatest Heists collection includes stories from both the original manga run, and the latter released Shin Lupin series. Shin Lupin has been previously known in the west as Lupin III: World's Most Wanted. The second edition, while already released in Japan, has yet to be announced for the West.
The tome will come in a beautiful large-trim hard cover, and will retail for around $23.99 USA / $30.99 CAN when it releases on December 21st.
The translation for all classic manga chapters included in the book has been re-done, with noticeable changes made to the language used when compared to the Tokyo Pop alternative.
As noted by some on social media, the original Tokyo Pop run had a rather extreme tonal shift in the dialogue, making characters sound slightly more aggressive than their Japanese counterparts. The new collection will change this, and include a more literal translation of the original Japanese version.
