Fujiko Mine series comes to HIDIVE on March 8th!
The renowned 2012 spin-off series The Woman Called Fujiko Mine is now available on streaming platform HIDIVE!
Both Japanese and English audio versions of the show have unlocked for streaming in select territories on March 8th 2022, in celebration of International Women’s Day.
The Woman Called Fujiko Mine features an alternate origin story for the gang, and focusses on the adventures of the famous femme fatale, Fujiko. The show is a great starting point for those unfamiliar with the series. That is, as long as you can stomach the slightly darker tone, some degree of gore, plenty of nudity, drug use, mention of child abuse… the list goes on (it is good though, trust us)!
Sayo Yamamoto (Director), Takeshi Koike (Character Designer and Animation Director), and Mari Okada (Story Editor and Screenwriter) are three notable members of the shows’ production team. Yamamoto was celebrated for being the first female staff member to sit in the director’s chair, as far as Lupin is concerned, and the show is better off for it. The Woman Called Fujiko Mine is a celebration of Fujiko, women empowerment, and much more—so it is quite fitting, that we are getting it on International Women’s Day!
The English language dub, which was originally recorded by FUNimation, contains a mishmash of American voice talent. This includes Sonny Strait as Lupin III, Christopher Sabat as Jigen, Mike McFarland as Goemon, Michelle Ruff as Fujiko and Richard Epcar as Inspector Zenigata.
