Doki TV localises 2017 Zenigata live-action drama for the United States!
Doki TV (previously J-Edge) is now available on Prime Video as subscription channel in the United States, and guess what? It comes with the 2017 released Japanese drama, Inspector Zenigata, fully subtitled into English!
All nine episodes can be streamed within the United States, in English, for “free”, if users already subscribe to Amazon Prime Video. After seven days, the free trial will end, and viewers will be expected to subscribe directly to Doki TV if they wish to continue watching their online content. Those wishing to subscribe via Doki TV’s own website can also make use of the content code “FUKUI” for 20% off the cost of the first three months (keep in mind however, the content of Doki TV’s service will vary based on your location).
The Zenigata show, which stars Ryohei Suzuki, Atsuko Maeda, and Takahiro Miura in the three lead roles, originally broadcast across several different Japanese streaming networks - HULU, NTV, and WOWOW. As a result of this rather fragmented broadcast structure, all of the episodes became tricky to track down, and it never received a localised release. That is, until now! All nine episodes can be watched conveniently in one place, via Doki TV.
Inspector Zenigata is known for his unwavering work ethic, serious demeanour, gullible nature, strong sense of justice, and unrelenting stance against evil. He tackles numerous challenging cases in his own unique way.
While I personally have not seen all episodes of the show (as mentioned, it was difficult to track down, and living in the United Kingdom, I still cannot access it here)… the three or so episodes I have seen are a lot of fun. Suzuki plays an incredible Inspector Zenigata, giving a fitting performance to both the goofy and more serious sides to our favourite cop. If you are interested in the character - and I’ll assume that if you’re reading this, you are - then this is definitely one worth checking out.
