Discotek bring Part III and Return of Pycal to North America!
It’s finally happening. Discotek Media are bringing the 1984 pink jacket TV series, Part III, to home video in North America!
… oh yeah, and The Return of Pycal is coming to 1080p Blu-ray, too!
The well loved North American entertainment company unveiled a whole heap of classic anime re-releases at their virtual panel on Monday evening.
Alongside the Lupin III goodies, shows such as Kodocha, City Hunter, Daltanious, Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics, Project A-ko, Ninja Robots and so much more were confirmed to be coming to Blu-ray in 2021.
Among these new announcements was a brand new trailer for the 4K UHD HDR Blu-ray release of The Castle of Cagliostro, which is planned for release in January 2021.
Discotek Media are clearly proud of this 4K UHD release - which is shaping up to be the ultimate edition of the film, with remastered visuals, various dubbing tracks and a boatload of special features!
We then had the news many of us having been waiting years for - Part III is coming to Blu-ray in North America during 2021!

All 50 episodes from the show will release as part of one set later in the year, and will be presented in HD video quality.
The original Japanese voice track will be included on the disc, along with English subtitles (although at time of writing, we are unsure if these are the same ones already included on Crunchyroll in North America, or instead something entirely new).
The box artwork for the set, although not final, appears to riff on the Japanese Blu-ray art - only featuring character and background colouring that more closely matches the show.

In addition to the Part III announcement, Discotek Media went on to confirm that the 2002 OVA The Return of Pycal (also known as Return of the Magician) will also be coming to 1080p Blu-ray during 2021.
This is one of the lesser known, and in our opinion, lesser quality Lupin III films and 2021 will mark the first time it has released in English speaking territories. The special sees a green jacketed Lupin facing off with an old nemesis from the original manga series and Lupin III: Part I, Pycal the magician.
The release will also feature Japanese audio and English subtitles, but will boast a brand new upscale giving clearer HD visuals for the North American release.
While announced, from the above mentioned releases only Cagliostro is currently up for pre-order. Check back later in 2021 to pre-order both Part III and The Return of Pycal - we will post the details as soon as they become available!
What a time to be a Lupin III fan living in North America!
It has become sensible to expect Lupin goodies each and every time a Discotek Media panel comes around, as the company always delivers and never seems to disappoint. Yesterday, they even went as far as saying that they plan to license and release all existing Lupin content in North America, which although has been apparent for a while now, will still be music to many fans ears.
The addition of Part III to their collection is a huge get - as the most obscure Lupin series will no doubt surprise and delight many for the first time when it releases next year.
