Discotek announce Part 5 Blu-ray release!
Hello, underworld.
The 2018 released television series Lupin III: Part 5 is coming to Blu-ray in North America later this year, thanks to Discotek Media!
Just announced as part of their recent live stream event, Discotek will bring Part 5 state-side as part of two Blu-ray releases, the first of which contains sixteen episodes. Volume one is due out in the Fall, while the second will release sometime after that (no exact date for either has been confirmed just yet).
Part 5 sees Lupin and the gang head to France, and become tangled up in some hi-tech hijinks as the writers tackle the modern day. This includes topics such as cryptocurrency, hacking, social media, and more! A new female protagonist, Ami Enan, a genius whiz kid with a knack for technology, also features here for the first time.
Both Blu-ray releases will include the Japanese and English audio, and feature brand new, expansive subtitling for the in-world signs and text (some examples of this can be seen below). Creditless opening and endings can also be found on the disc, along with an art gallery.
More information on the release is due to come later this year - so please stay tuned!
In addition to the Part 5 news, Discotek Media have also confirmed that their highly anticipated North American release of Lupin III: Part III is due to go on sale this August.
All 50 episodes feature as part of a single Blu-ray set, and includes beautiful HD visuals along with the Japanese audio track. Special features are yet to be confirmed, and the cover artwork has had a major overhaul (as seen pictured above). All subtitles have also been revised - and going by Discotek’s previous work, are likely to be more accurate than ever.
We are extremely excited for this set, so for us, August cannot come soon enough!
To round off the Lupin announcements, Discotek also noted that only seven specials remain to be localised in North America. This will include the likes of Another Page, Princess of the Breeze and more.
It looks like we may be seeing these in future - but for now, please continue to support Discotek to ensure they keep up their Lupin III licensing well into the future!
